Nadine Tunley , Chief Executive of Horticulture New Zealand ( HortNZ ) has leave office with her last day at HortNZ being Friday , 30 August .

Nadine Tunley says this was not an easy decision to make .

" I love the job and the team and working with dedicated and passionate growers . But the use is bigger than the metre I can perpetrate to it moving forwards . I desire to fix my work - living equilibrium and research new opportunities .

" I have work closely with the Board over the past three years to insure HortNZ has a strong squad , unattackable bodily structure and unattackable management , set up out in the strategy and the Aotearoa Horticulture Action Plan . With the commodity levy en masse referendum in May / June , it is now time to hand over to someone with sweet energy to take HortNZ forward . "

HortNZ Board chairman Barry O’Neil enunciate the Board is disappoint to see Nadine go .

" While the timing of a valued chief operating officer ’s departure is never idealistic , the Board and Nadine experience it is important that with a new good levy proposal about to be voted on , HortNZ can recruit a surrogate chief executive officer that can extend the organization and pitch the strategic outcomes for the next six years , with the full energy expect .

" I have secure agriculturist that the Board and HortNZ team will continue to take the organization forward in bloodline with the strategy and plan . This will let in an ongoing nidus on the antecedency area of water parceling and reposition , clime change and adaptation , and food security and supply . We ’ll continue to run and support important projects such as A Lighter Touch and Growing Change .

" The Board recognize the huge contribution Nadine has made during her tenure in the role , notably her steadfast leadership during very challenging times for many of our growers let in the Covid lockdowns and Cyclone Gabrielle ’s devastation .

" Whilst dealing with these extreme events , she preserve to drive the interior organization through the transformation necessary for it to come through as well as to spread out the room access for further conjunction within the horticultural industry ’s levy en masse governing body landscape .

The Board has begun the recruitment operation for a raw Chief Executive .
