Daffodil Love or A Taste of Spring

We have been enjoying a brief break in wintertime here in California . Sunshine and warm temps have come to give us a abbreviated taste of Spring . This is not strange for mid February .   We typically see 2 weeks of what I call False Spring then we get hit once more with wintertime weather . Though the garden around my house is just scruffy grunge still I live I could take a jaunt 20 minutes down the route and find some flush blooming . Ironstone Winery keep barrels and barrel of bulbs in their greenhouses and they rotate them out to run along their walkways and entrance . They have other cool weather boner fill the barrels too , like sissy and ornamental cabbage .   The Paper Whites you see at the back left of this photo were so fragrant they overshadowed the few Hyacinths that were flower . When I hop-skip out of my motortruck with tv camera in hand the temporary gauge record 72 degrees . Sigh … .. everlasting for mosey along . It was a quiet daylight , not many tourists about , in fact I did not really see another mortal until I was done . The dame were blab and chatter , you knew they were enjoying the warmheartedness of the day . I do n’t grow many daffodil in my garden as late snows vanquish them every yr . So I just enjoy coming to Ironstone and take in the varieties they pack into these barrel every year . These are not their real showstoppers , those will come out before long . Then they will bring out the Tulips . Barrels and barrels of tulip .

Here is a closing curtain up of the fragrant Paper Whites . This one is different , such a short loving cup on it . Sometimes I am astonied at so many dissimilar colour and dash of Narcissus pseudonarcissus . This next one is promise Amber Gates . Don’t you just love the flossy doubles . Mr. Kitty kept me caller along the direction . I front to see if they were selling any of their one-half barrels but not today .   I require to get some more but have yet to hit it right here .   They offer them by the front door from time to clip and they are less expensive to corrupt directly from the winery than at garden centers . Oh well , it gives me a in force self-justification to make frequent trips by to see what may be newly blooming . Happy Fake Spring !
