As much as we love the flimflam and ado of the spring and summer grow season , nothing quite equate to the peace , placidity and beauty of fall at the farm .
Especially after what has been one unusual and sick year !
Here is a feeling around the farm as the vizor colors of fall arrive . And be sure to take a expression at the last few pictures – as there is a act of a surprise come in to Old World Garden Farm(s ) this crepuscle .

Fall At The Farm – 2020
The maple , oaks and wild cerise trees reach point color this preceding workweek . It is awful how the various tint of red , yellow and green change the intact look of the front entrance .
As if good on pool cue , as soon as the trees set about to deepen , the ornamental weed rob as well . It sure enough make for the perfect autumn combination .
One of our pet new addition this year are the planters fill with ornamental moolah and kale . As the cool air of fall arrives , these wizardly plants spill over with nigh atomic number 10 - like gloss .

In fact , their “ blooms ” only get better as the weather chill even more into deep fall.(See : Growing Ornamental Kale & Cabbage )
The b was our first true structure we built here , and to this day , it stay one of our favorites . specially in the fall as the clear sky and fall foliage bring it front and center .
It was the tidy sum of our first braggart get - together at the farm , and has hosted uncounted more over the last 10 years . create from two old round of the century b , it still has the feel of an previous - school b .

A few old age back , we created a footling niche in the hillside to put up our two beehives . It has become home to so many perennial transplantation over the days , including the Blanketflower you see above .
As you may see , this amazing perennial is still in full bloom . tattle about a workhorse of a flower , it has now bloomed from later May into the third locoweed of October !
Our new mess of crybaby from this summer are now 16 weeks old and growing up tight . In fact , they should be laying their first orchis in the next few weeks !

They have adjusted well to living on the farm and in their new hencoop . There favorite interest include begging for sunflower seed , and taunting our neighbors dogs behind their strong fence .
We have always wanted to have an authentic “ farm ” augury . And this year , thanks to an amazingly talented local artist namedKaitlyn Hennessy , we have one !
Kaitlyn worked for 4 mean solar day in the scorching hot sun in mid summer to make this 16′ x 6′ billboard house painting . Not only does it have a vintage feel and feel , the colour really bug out now that autumn is settling in .

Autumn has really derive to life around the outdoor kitchen and pavilion . Between the mums , cosmetic Brassica oleracea , simoleons and hook grass , there is declination semblance everywhere !
There is n’t a day that become by that you wo n’t find us having either breakfast , tiffin , dinner party – or all 3 under the marquee . But our favorite of all still stay the homemade pizza oven !
It is quite simply our favorite place to roost after a day of working on the farm .

What a difference a few month make in the garden landscape ! Although our Raised Row Garden has been exculpate and planted for a long winter ’s residuum with its back craw of annual rye , it was quite the productive year for the garden .
Not only did the garden get a new fence this year , but also a few new Bill Gates and doors .
One thing is for sure , no dependable farm can be stark without an old farm truck – and we last find one for Old World Garden this yr !

The motortruck is a 1977 Ford F-350 Camper Special – and its first official duty was hale a loading of shuck to the garden ! We have not yet come up with a name for her , but we ’re work on it .
Our 2020 crepuscle farm photos would n’t be quite complete without the addition of the last two delineation below .
Without saying too much , it is a little puzzle of what it is to come . I imagine you’re able to say we will finally be place the “ s ” in Old World Garden Farms . Not only will the farm be growing in the very near future , but in a very unique way .

And are we ever activated to have the next chapter of the farm and our narrative unfold over the next few age . Happy Fall and Happy Gardening – Jim and Mary
