What a howling story of the power of gardening ! While Kate will miss her garden in Maryland , we are excited to see she create in Reno . Keep us posted , Kate !

" I have a degree in fine arts . I stopped all traditional type of creating art when I got sober in 1985 , I seemed to suffer my vocalism at that time , or maybe it just lose its relevancy . I find it again through gardening . Creating stratum of vividness and texture throughout the growing season is a great way to paint . I mix native and non - native mintage to get maximal impingement . Hummingbirds , frogs , butterflies and other insects live their life story in this backyard ecosytem unmolested by pesticides or weedkiller .

I ’m getting ready to go forth this garden on the eastern shore of Maryland for Reno , Nevada . Our home , surrounded by farm , is up for sale . I sat on the back dance step yesterday and cried , both grateful and sorry . "
