Patience, passalongs, succulent style
“ Free Plants ” guarantees a gang every time . So , it ’s a squawk when we ’re talented at home , like my mystery peach tree diagram , most likely planted by a raccoon . Even though the locating ’s not ideal under a tree canopy , it flaunt flowers a few days after the freeze , and with fortune , some sweet-flavored fruit to come . We planted most of our mountain laurels from seed reap from our first nursery - buy one . I just threw them out without scarifying . I ’m not the most patient person around — except in the garden . I suppose it equilibrate me . Anyway , it take yr from seed to blossom , but worth the postponement . A week ago , we were shiver decently along with our plants . This Wednesday , we all shucked off our jackets , at least for a few days , including my passalong bearded irises . Another passalong in 2008 was the corms of drouth - toughAnomatheca laxa(formerly know to me asFreesia laxa ) . After sporting strappy foliage all winter , they came through after the frost with a new flush of little coral flowers . SO , have you had lots of these delicate fly insects latterly ? Note : viewer discretion counsel . 😉 They ’re adult crane flies and wo n’t harm you at all . They ’ve got other things on their judgement before they give out in a few days . When they sneak in through the threshold and foreland for moist areas like the exhibitioner or kitchen sink , I lightly take them outdoors . Read more about crane rainfly fromTravis County bugologist Wizzie Brown .
In case you drop it , see how to keep your indoor succulents in tops shape with Monique Capanelli fromArticulture blueprint . On tour , Colleen Jamison and Bruce Baldwin pass off along indoor / outdoor connective with vision , persistence , and solitaire . keep an eye on now !
