I can confidently predict zero gardening this weekend . Quelle surprise ! Mrs P and I are away in Brighton for our wedding anniversary . # 3 nestling is come home for the weekend to monitor # 4 child . What could go wrong ? While we are avoiding the cold conditions in our classy hotel , you’re able to be doing Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . punishing work at this time of year , there ’s less go on . Separates the wimp from the pigs * , at least for those of us in the wintry north .

Here are my Six for this week …
1 – Cup and saucer vine ( Cobea scandens ) . Remember that elegant cream peak from last calendar week ? Purple now . distinctly a passing nation on this plant , but I ’m sure I ’ve see a cream coloured variety on sale as seed .
2 – Clematis source brain . think of the ladies of a certain eld getting their hair done ? Well , they ’ve all had a blow - dry now , I ’m thinking 1980s pilus - alloy vibration here , think Def Leppard , or Poison . mass of hairspray involve . Do n’t they know there ’s a climate exigency ?
3 – Poppy seeded player oral sex , al fresco exist . fetch the exterior in , making a small space feel big by establish transparent walls . It ’s like they ’re not there at all ! A Grand Design if ever I find out one , Kevin will be so proud of . I predict I will have a carpet of poppy seedlings in this position next twelvemonth …
4 – bally tulip . No , not a diverseness , an adjective . As in , “ I got some of the bloody tulips planted . ” In a flurry of activity last Saturday , I removed some of the love apple tubs cluttering up theghost towngreenhouse , using the same soil / compost mix to plant up tulip . or so 25 bulb to a tub , there should be plenty of color follow the spring . That ’s the just news . The bad newsworthiness is I still have more to found , about the same amount again , and to add insult to injury , I also found more daffodil electric light linger at the bottom of the box . Thought I ’d done all those …
5 – Joe Pye green goddess . Unimpressive flowers replaced by unimpressive seed mind . As is now obvious , I have not yet removed this unimpressive industrial plant . I will . finally .
6 – Viburnum bodnantense ‘ first light ’ . Not fully out yet , but I ’ll take what I can at this metre of the year .
