It was great to spend a good clump of time in the garden in last weekend ’s early spring fair weather . I got quite a bit done but of grade there is an perpetual inclination of things still to do . I have a promiscuous weekend on the running play front so I shall be out in the garden again , atmospheric condition permitting . verbalize of the running , it is 10 weeks until I attempt 100 km on the south coast . This will either be the last such thing I will ever try , or the first of several this yr , we shall see . For this first event I am raising money for Macmillan , a cancer charity here in the UK that provide specialist nurses and other advice and service of process to cancer patient and their families . clip for Six on Saturday . Six thing , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything , you decide . link in !

Here are my Six for this week .
1 – Seeds , sown . One of several jobs completed last weekend , some of my seed sowing for this year . In this draw are the HPS seed I get the other week plus some former yearbook – creation , tagetes and the similar . They are in the het up workbench . I normally sow into a layer of vermiculite or grit but I have neglected to replenish my stores of either . Never mind , I expect they ’ll be fine . No signs of germination yet . Taps foot in impatience .
2 – More roses ? I was minding my own business concern , not thinking of buying any new roses , when the recent David Austin catalogue popped through the letterbox and thunked accusingly onto my doormat . I ’ll just have a look , I think , no need to buy anything . I retrieve I got away with it .

I have just the smear for these rose wine that I have n’t buy , good guv , and when they arrive “ within 10 workings days ” , I shall be ball over , shocked I say , at their sudden and unsolicited appearance .
3 – Veg plot , untidy . My design this weekend is to neaten up this region and mulch to get it quick for planting . If I ’m feeling adventuresome I ’ll polish off the wooden side of the bed . I ’ve been thinking for a while that I do n’t really necessitate the raised bed and the woodwork provide a hiding spot for the damned slugs . If this tidying goes well I have onions , Allium sativum and shallot that should go out around now .
4 – Suspected teasle seedling . I by chance uprise a teasel a couple of years ago ( I think it was a digitalis at first ) . Not one goldfinch did it pull in , then it create seed prolifically , many of which I think it dropped on my lawn . This is one of what might be dozens of seedling . I ’ll be digging them up and vomit on the compost .

5 – Hart ’s Tongue fern . Last year ’s fronds are looking a bit past it now , I should cut off them off to reveal the felon of the new growth . I had one plant initially , but now have 3 or 4 heavy plants having dissever the original . I can see both mere ground and weed , both of which areverboten . employment to do in this shady box , clearly .
6 – Salvage line of work , maybe . I have had this senecia ‘ angel ’s wings ’ for a few yers . For the last couple of years it has been plagued by aphids and peradventure slug and had start to look pretty decrepit , certainly not merit of prime patio substantial estate . I commend register somewhere that they respond well to a arduous prune , so I ’ve write out it back extremely hard . vote out or curative . There are very small encouraging signs . Well , sign singular really .
bide dependable , have a fab weekend , I hope you manage to get some horticulture done , or at least acts preparative to . Do n’t bury to pop back as links get added during the day .

I ’ll be back next weekend with another # SixOnSaturday
